Did you know that both NPR and Pacifica are networks that provide content, but the local stations affiliated with each are expected to originate a minimum of 50% local content by FCC regulations? Both public radio stations and Pacifica affilates hire locals and at some of the smaller stations, they can be truly sad. The networks do not maintain transcripts of local programming.Therefore the evidence you submit is invalid. I'm not taking sides, but you seem to be convicting when the evidence is not there to do so. |

BEZ sounds like an urban kind of thing, more like WNYC or similar in the city. WEXT has an astonishing variety of stuff. Just hit it up and they're playing pretty much hillbilly music at the moment. They'll be doing something else in about ten minutes from now. It's mostly music. Since WMHT owns WMHT-FM also, the classical stuff is over there, along with some talk. WEXT is their moneymaker because it kicks ass on all the CleanChannel stations here, and of course no ads other than on the intro to the internet stream which goes for about ten seconds. :) |

It's purely LOCAL in its flavor, that's how we roll around here and they cater to it. Seriously ... spend a little while with it, you and everyone else here will find it QUITE unique. :)The only other station I stream is WRPI which is run by Rensselaer Poytechnic Institute. I used to love WDST in Woodstock, but they got bought out by "Cousin Bruce Morrow" many years ago, turned instantly to shit and is now a CBS station. :( |

Only ONE of them, "Vietnam War Summary" was uploaded to Pacifica in California for retransmission on its other stations. Whenever Bingbong does a show for WEXT, it doesn't get sent to NPR. I'm merely suggesting, since I spent 30+ years in broadcasting that I know how it all works. It's VERY likely something like that WAS said on an NPR affiliate in California for LOCAL consumption and NPR never knew it went on the air. If you'd like, I'll tell you the story of Alan Chartock, an NPR *king* around here who owns and operates 13 NPR stations. And NPR *hates* him. |
