I voted NO to Amendment 5 here in Florida. The Christianist/GOP tried to put an end to state-funded abortion. I told them to go fuck themselves with my NO vote.State pays for many abortions in America. I'll bet that in NYC, of the 80,000 abortions(est) 90% are paid for by welfare, not out-of-pocket. |

So you support welfare too.Remind me why you vote Republican again? The only reasons you've offered are a vague declaration that the left and/or Democrats are "scary" or "tyrannical" or "radical" without providing any specifics or examples or evidence, and a spurious claim that the left opposes free speech, again completely devoid of any evidence. |

The Hyde Amendment specifically forbids federal money from paying for abortion and only 17 states are willing to chip in.The vast majority of abortions are paid for out of pocket, or by charities specifically dedicated to helping women, which is still private money. |

Posted by Nilet on Thu Apr 3 22:46:48 2014, in response to Re: US appeals court upholds new Texas abortion rules, posted by LuchAAA on Thu Apr 3 22:09:59 2014. a woman deserves the right to have an abortion. the right to be a mother or not to be. a man should have that right too.He does have that right! I've already explained as much to you here and here. No one has ever claimed that men should not have the right not to become a father. he should be informed before month three of the pregnancy that the woman is pregnant. Why is it any of his business? if he says he does not want to be a dad, the woman is informed that she can have an abortion or raise the kid on her own. And if the woman says she doesn't want to be a mom, she can inform the man that he'll have to raise the kid on his own? The man chose to be a dad when he had unprotected sex. He can't undo that after the fact. a man should have some rights too. Yeah, right. If a woman has the right to control her body, then a man should have the right to control a woman's body as well. By the way, that was pretty sly of you, referring to yourself as "pro-abortion" rather than "pro-choice." I should have picked up on that a lot quicker— "pro-abortion" is a shibboleth of the extreme right much like "Democrat party." Why you vote Republican becomes more and more obvious. You're a racist and you're a sexist. You're not as extreme a racist as the white supremacist Republican base, and you're not as extreme a sexist as the pro-rape Republican base, but you are a racist and a sexist nonetheless— and you'd much rather vote for the party that's a bit too bigoted for your taste - those would be the "imperfections" you mentioned earlier - than vote for a party that, in theory at least, opposes bigotry outright. |

The man cannot interfere with decisions about a woman's body. She takes on a lot of risk in pregnancy, which could affect her life from then on. Nobody has the right o interfere with her choices. |

Posted by Nilet on Thu Apr 3 23:09:52 2014, in response to Re: US appeals court upholds new Texas abortion rules, posted by LuchAAA on Thu Apr 3 22:49:57 2014. Pro-abortion because it's an abortion, not a "choice".It is a choice— the choice of whether or not to reproduce. The pro-choice movement started as a coalition of white women who wanted the right to an abortion and black women who wanted the right to not have abortions or sterilisations performed on them against their will. The entire basis of the pro-choice position is that the right to bodily autonomy is absolute and applies to women as well as men— women own their bodies, and therefore have the right to choose what happens to and in them. How is it sexist to support abortion? I just think the man deserves some say in the matter too. Your sexist lack of self-awareness is so glaring I think I'm going to be blinded. OK, let's see if I can explain this in terms simple enough for you to comprehend. On the abortion "issue," there are two sides. The pro-choice side believes that women are people who have a right to control their own bodies, and therefore should have the right to decide whether or not to have an abortion. The anti-choice side (which calls itself the "pro-life" side) believes that women are property and that men have the right to control their bodies, and therefore men should have the right to decide whether or not the women they "own" will have an abortion. Your position appears to line up with the latter side. The only distinction is that you're willing to state your actual belief out loud— most anti-choicers pretend they actually think abortion is inherently bad in and of itself because they know explicitly advocating male ownership of female bodies is not going to win them a lot of support. |
