I didn't miss the point at all. I totally understand what you are TRYING to say. But again, heterosexuals and gays can march in the parade in the groups under the banners there. there is NO gay exclusion. The gays want to march under a sexuality banner for gays, of which there are no sexuality banners in the parade. Heterosexuals aren't running under a sexuality banner either, they are marching under whatever group they are in, of which there are gays too. There are no banners flaunting sexual preference. No one cares. No one cares if there are gay police officers, bagpipers, firefighters, etc marching either, just as no one cares if they are not gay. |

Its members can be of any race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual preference, familial status, or disability. It doesn't matter. They are all just "firefighters". I've been part of the NYC LGBT Pride March Committee for eight years now. We do such radical things as plan the annual March down Fifth Avenue, co-ordinate the many corporate sponsors, and review applications from those seeking to participate in the March, and the street festival at the end of the parade. I also host the stage show on Pride Sunday in Greenwich Village every year.Conservative Catholic League leader Bill Donohue has been making a big noise about the St. Patrick's Day Parade issue, and said on Steve Malzberg yesterday, that he wants to apply to our parade, carrying a "Straight Is Great" banner. (He also said he was "going after" Guinness for boycotting Monday's parade.) I told the rest of the Committee that if Donohue wants to carry a "Straight Is Great" banner in the March, that was fine by me. We haven't heard a peep out of Donohue since then. Just sayin'. |

Nothing he said replies to my post. I'm going after the fallacy of thought that says that a banner that does not obviously advocate for a group of society considered ignored or else treated in an inferior way must necessarily advocate for the opposite group. |
