LOL..That's because your "married friends" didn't understand what "marriage" means..and thought it would be FUN to do it.. it isnt enslavement..being shackled to the "ole ball n chain.. its a joining..a union of two people, who TRUST each other..have faith in each other..and most of all..believe in what they have TOGETHER. They love each other...period. |

Women are too militant for a marriage to be truly happy. I was dating a girl from el Salvador. She came over one night and I started cooking something and she grabbed the pan from my hand and took over. She could not stand to see a man in front of the oven. I'm in my 40's and love total control over my caloric intake. But when I worked for TA, I never once did my own laundry. Made sense to bring it to the laundromat for pickup. But when I would visit my mother I'd do her laundry on my day off. Strange. |

Get married to a mail order bride from some Far Eastern country where they never heard of women's liberation. That is your answer here! you need your mother and not some MODERN woman who thinks for herself. You want someone to stay home and do all the chores at home while you bring home the "bacon." You want someone to make the babies and clean up after all the babies. |

It's a cultural thing.A large number of Italian men haven't adjusted to women who work full time and don't take care of all the housework 24/7. So they live with Momma who is of the last generation that does. As a result, they never marry. It's actually a problem in Italy, which IIRC has the lowest indigenous population (as opposed to immigrants) birthrate in the developed world. |

A large number of Italian men haven't adjusted to women who work full time and don't take care of all the housework 24/7. So they live with Momma who is of the last generation that does. As a result, they never marry. Are you talking about Italy or America? In my Italian-American community, with a large number of Italian immigrants too, I can't think of a household where the woman stayed home. They all worked. Many in the famous Ridgewood knitting mills. Others traveled for better pay and benefits to LIC factories. Better educated Italian women became school teachers, secretaries, etc..... The Italian guy who lives at home is a "Mommaluke" or "Mamaluke". Hey Tony, go get the semolina bread, mother yells in front of the neighborhood. Italy's plunging birthrate is a European thing. It's been a problem for decades and now it hit Italy harder. That's all. |

Heard they have the lowest birthrate (excluding immigrants) than any other European country. Too many of the men won't get over the fact that they need to share housework in order to get a relationship that will work.More American men are getting this. That's why in places like the Northeast where these ideas are the norm, marriages last and divorce rates plummet. |

A grown adult who lives with his/her parents is known as a "bamboccione/a" Italy's plunging birthrate is a European thing. It's been a problem for decades and now it hit Italy harder. That's all. That's correct. Italy has had very low birthrates for the last 40 years. Pretty much when women entered the workforce in massive numbers. Italians marry late and have children even later. That is a European thing. Italy is taking the brunt of it because, like Japan, they have a lot of old people (from the time of larger families) and people there live long. This is putting incredible strain on social security and health care financing. Had it not been for heavy immigrant influx in the last 20 years, the system would have already collapsed. |
