The Italian guy who lives at home is a "Mommaluke" or "Mamaluke"That's not what a mamaluke is. "Mamaluke" ("mamelucco") means "dumbass". A grown adult who lives with his/her parents is known as a "bamboccione/a" Italy's plunging birthrate is a European thing. It's been a problem for decades and now it hit Italy harder. That's all. That's correct. Italy has had very low birthrates for the last 40 years. Pretty much when women entered the workforce in massive numbers. Italians marry late and have children even later. That is a European thing. Italy is taking the brunt of it because, like Japan, they have a lot of old people (from the time of larger families) and people there live long. This is putting incredible strain on social security and health care financing. Had it not been for heavy immigrant influx in the last 20 years, the system would have already collapsed. |
