Why are we having benedictions and invocations at the presidential inauguration and other public, government functions, in the first place? I can accept generic, Judeo-Christian prayers, and I imagine most Americans would too, but it crosses a line when Jesus's name is invoked, since that no longer includes everyone.

Tradition, I suppose.

I guess my feeling is that if it's individual speech of a participant at a public event (even if the participant happens to be a government official) it doesn't get into the realm of establishment of a religion.

On the other hand, if it's a policy or a monument instituted by government that has a religious oritentation, then it's permanent or semi-permanent and starts to look very much like establishment.

Individuals of the LGBTQIA Community are considered for inclusion to the List of Aviators (LOA) res judicata just like any other demographic. In fact, individuals of said community are known to have a strong grasp of the inner workings of high bypass ducted fans, reduced/FLEX takeoff thrust, and and the use of flight management systems during RNAV (GPS/RNP) approaches. At least in theory it matters not at all to the committee responsible for the drafting of the LOA.

Wrong. It is about inclusiveness as a minority that was either born with both characteristics (happens more frequently than you may think) and/or does not identify clearly as one or another has a chance to identify as themselves, instead of some imposed convention.

There are millions of mixed-gender human beings out there.

LOL. The whole invocation was addressed to a Supreme Being, as a request for blessings and guidance. There were multiple requests to "you" for help and guidance and blessings. Who do you think "you" is in the context of an invocation?

To remove it from what?

Congress added it to the Pledge of Allegiance. So if you claim to be reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and don't use that phrase, you're not really reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, you're reciting your own private version of it.

Are you aware of any public officials modifying the Pledge of Allegiance in a public event by removing the phrase?
