Guatemalans are short and dark compared to Mexicans. And Mexicans make the same assumptions like we (or at least I) do.

Out here if you dress like a gang member then that's what people will assume. I don't know about NYC, but out here if you are under 30 and wear too much blue, red, or purple that's what people will think. 9 times out of 10 that's right. No one dresses like a gang member unless they are one or they just want trouble for no reason.
