I was a soldier once but I'm neither too proud nor too self righteous to admit there were tears streaming down my face when that guy kicked the ball into the net. The mascara I mean face paint I put on the moment I awoke this morning ran down my face but I make no apology for it. To have witnessed this extraordinary achievement by Spain was both a distinct honor and singular priviledge that I shall hold dear and consider sacred for the rest of my years. As for 9 local and anybody else who supported The Netherlands, I feel your pain but you need to let it go. Think of it this way - if the Dutch or the Netherlands or Holland or whatever they are had scored instead of Spain then the Dutch or the Netherlands or Holland would have won. Besides, there's always next year... actually, I guess not. |
