Outside of the northeast, its the freight railroads that have the upper hand in Amtrak service. Its their game & their rules. If there were more dedicated Amtrak ROWs, that would make passenger rail more viable. Moving tonnage is their mission, not passengers. All things considered, as things are today were lucky to have any intercity rail service in the first place. |
