NASCAR has gone way beyond its Southern redneck roots. It's now a sport with nationwide appeal (well, except in New York), full of corporate sponsorships, and with an increasingly upscale audience base. The fan sitting next to you at a race is more likely to be a banking executive or IT professional from a fancy suburb than some gas station attendant named Bubba from a hick town. Cities all over the country are building ever-larger tracks, once again except for New York.My LIRR/NYCT blog |
