The added power is the electoral college, Trump isn't touching that. As far as the less obvious benefits from corruption, defense contracts, etc, at worst you could say it's foolish idealism on par with the socialists. They don't notice or care how much the corruption or military spending or inequality benefits them, just that it's "wrong" and must be corrected.
