I’m wondering if there couldn’t be a case made that Facebook does have to abide by the first amendment and that they can kick people off for violating terms of service but can’t abridge free speech.

They are in big trouble if they were to "discriminate" in an unpermitted way.

Obviously racial or religious discrimination gets you sued. Political discrimination is possibly OK. The NRA web site kicks you off if you post comments supporting gun regulation (much less banning of guns).

But there is huge evidence that Alex Jones has libeled private individuals. I would think it's pretty much a no-brainer that you can ban people for libel.
