Well i really don't agree with the term 'white privilege' per se bc i don't thinj being white means everything will be easy but the truth is there are extra mine fields black latino or now muslim ppl deal with white ppl don't have to worry about. Its well documented that after graduating college it takes longer for black or latino ppl to find jobs rhan their white counterparts. Its well documnted that black and white ppl use drugs (and white usjjoong more fangerous drugs) at similar rates but blacks are 3x more likely to be arrested for drug offenses. Its well documented blacjs and latinos get longer sentences for the same offenses as whites. It's well documented blacks get turned down for loans at a far greater rate while having similar credit scores. And i can go on and on. Not to say it's impossible to overcome but might have to work harder or take longer to 'make it'. Its reality and for ppl to deny institutional racism doesn't exist is in serious denial. |
