Nah, I was writing more about a collective attitude - but I see some very dangerous long term damage to the present "chatter" from the right - and seeing the effects of "that software company is in America, let's buy the German one, even if it's a piece of qwap." With the House and Senate solidly in GOP hands, who CARES about Kennedy, Kerry or Boxer? Means as much in the greater scheme as Thurmond did when the Dems had both. But the attitude itself is highly destructive and is causing a good deal of the rest of the world to write us all off. And it's not like we're expanding what we have to offer the rest of the world ... if anything, we've got fewer friends than we used to. But most of what I wrote wasn't really directed towards you at all, you just happened to be a convenient hook to hang it on. :) We've REALLY got to start making some friends, and I'm not too sure "Condi" is the way to go about that. Colin Powell, even if he couldn't offer much because he wasn't issued any carrots to hand out, was at least someone the rest of the world could express their exasperation to. He was WELL respected. You can already see the tide going out as Codi steps up to the parrot's perch. :( |
