It's the reason there even is an economy.There are enough resources to go around. b. I don't care. I don't feel like lowering my quality of life to benefit another. I don't feel especially altruistic. I don't care. You don't have a right to resources you didn't earn. c. Too bad. Most of the people who did that are dead. Doesn't matter. You're still enjoying the benefit of stolen resources; that you personally didn't steal them doesn't mean you have a right to them. d. Jamaica had a lower level of technological development before they even knew the other existed, and it would likely still be true had Europeans never colonized the Americas. I agree about Guatemala and Iran. Doesn't matter. Jamaica was enslaved for decades; it's absurd to claim they'd be just as worse off if they weren't enslaved. Remember, England was building its first industrial base with Jamaican plunder. And that is the better solution, helping to build up those countries rather than allowing their dregs to come here. Agreed. The nations with plunder have an affirmative obligation to build up the nations that were plundered. Once that's done, the dreamed economic equality will be reached and we can open the borders without economic concerns. |
