That could have a lot to do with downed trees making roads impassable. If they can't make delivery, the stations run out.The roads are not impassible, and have not been. One thing I can say is that most roads (the ones not flooded) had the trees taken away pretty quick. It takes about 2 hours per tree to clear it (statistic provided by National Grid) and remove any wires from it, which are a hazard WRT opening roads. You know that, you said you cleared 5 trees after the storm. Yes, but the local towns and villages have done a fairly decent job with that by Tuesday already on main roads, and Wednesday and Thursday most small roads were open. There aren't gas stations on these small aforementioned roads. That's about the ONLY bright thing I can say, the local town has been good with the debris and tree removal. I put my tree debris out on Tuesday and Wednesday, it was piled up 7 feet high, and across the whole front of the house (as well as neighbors) and it was all gone by Thursday. THAT was impressive to me. Port of Brooklyn was closed much of the week. That's about the only way to get gas to LI that doesn't involve accessing a bridge or tunnel, both of which were unavailable most of the week. Port Jefferson Harbor has been open, tankers go there and has a pipeline to a facility in Holbrook/Holtsville. This is a crisis one has to be patient, improvise and STOP WHINING!!! WHERE have I been whining? I only responded to your USUAL partisan rhetoric, which doesn't apparently even end in a time of crisis. Shame on you. |
