New Jersey Transit is not yet done with refurbishment of the Nova Bs. However, only owned and operated units will be rehabilitated. IIRC, all Nova Bs at Newton Avenue and Washington Township have already been rehabbed. These buses will NOT be rehabilitated---unless they are transferred to New Jersey Transit Bus Operations: 1000-1131, 1138-1200, 1210-1247, 1253-1254, 1262-1263, 1270, 1507-1513, 1515-1533, 1535-1562*, 1565-1570, 1575-1576, 2537-2559, and 2569-2580. This is because these buses are either operated by contractors or are leased to private carriers. *I am not sure which 1560s are assigned to Egg Harbor Township. |

I was there about 2:30-3 PM yesterday, in the same spot.Behind the post office: Going northbound on 45: Also, I am convinced that the 459 and 463 should just become D4000 routes, with baby RTSs being sent up north or to Egg Harbor for service increases. (I saw 7513 on the 459.) |

Actually the two routes[459 and 463] should be combined and utilize the 40 foot transits or suburbans. The D4000's should be restricted to the long-distance routes [like to AC or Millville], in fact they shouldn't be on the 412 [or any Philly-Woodbury-Glassboro run. The 401,402, and 410 should run express between Camden and Woodbury, with the 412 and short-turn 411 running local between the two towns.]. Finally that line [as well as the 400, 403, 406, 459, 463] should be exact fare like the Newton Ave routes [404, 405, 407, 413, 419]. |

My itenerary on that day was: NEC to Trenton, River Line to Camden, 405 to Cherry Hill Mall. Had lunch there, 455 to Woodbury, 463 to Sicklerville, 551 to Atlantic City, 319 to Toms River, 67X to Newark, then back home.Wednesday I was in that area as well; got the 319 from NY to AC, 553 to Upper Deerfield, 410 to Camden, then the River Line and NEC. BTW, have you ever been on the 553 or the 410 in it's entirety??? I could NOT believe how much open farmland and woodland we passed through! It's like I was in a totally different part of the country. And I don't care what anybody says... South Jerseyans DO have a twang. ;-) |

Next fall, I would actually want to hit up photo spots in Cumberland and Cape May County. (I actually wanted shots in Vineland, but missed the 408 by seconds---for next time, shots in the Wildwoods and Vinelands, even if it is all D4000s...the aim is to vary my photo locations. I did ride the 559 local from Atlantic City to Toms River...and even though ridership isn't terribly high, it has PLENTY of rider turnover.)As for yesterday for me, it was NEC to Trenton, River LINE to Camden, 410 to Woodbury, 463 to Winslow, then the 551 to AC, 559 to Toms River, and the 319 back home. As for the 463, did you get a baby RTS or a D4000? |

Okay, definately ride the entire length of the 410 - past Woodburyish it's very un-New Jerseylike; at least the New Jersey that *most* people know - the dense, developed parts.I've done the 559 also, from Lakewood to AC. That is a nice ride. Other nice ones are the 313 and 317. Haven't been on the 315 but I would like to eventually. Another trip I'd like to do is the 401 to Salem, 468 to Penns Grove and the 423 over the bridge into Wilmington. I would've done it this week, but I didn't get a chance to. On the 463 I got a Baby Nova. They use D4000s on there too? |

The 463 and 459 might use a D4000 if a baby RTS is needed to meet a wheelchair request. (The 400, 403, and 406 use Flxibles primarily, and there is only one wheelchair Metro-B bus at Washington Township.)Salem County Transit is the only contractor I have no pics of (but they have only five buses, and the sixth was transferred to a garage in Essex County (Hilton). |

The counties of Salem, Cumberland, and much of Atlantic and Cape May are very rural and the lifestyle is a stark contrast to the stereotype of NJ residents. The twang is quite noticable, it's almost like you're in the Southern part of the USA. When you get into the more urbanized counties across from Philly, the people tens to speak like Philadelphians since many trace their roots to the city.Mercer county is a mix of Philly and NYC area people since it resides in an zone that overlaps the Philly and NYC Metro areas. North of Mercer County, it is aligned with NYC and the vocal inflections are clearly NYC. |
