As the other posters said... these buses had no standee windows. They also were delivered some grab iron that was removed shortly after they went into service. They had 2 horizontal bars about 3-4 feet high. I remember when KB had 3 T6H-5309A that served as pilots for features that showed up on the Flxibles. #4869 and 4870 had the backlight interior lights. 4871 had a slighly different version of these lights and I think 4869 also tested those horizontal bars.I never liked these buses and I'd routinely pass them up for just about anything else that came along. In 1956 Ulmer Park received all the new 6000 series Mack, They were the only Garage that received them, They replaced the Twin Coaches from 1947-48. I used to get upset, because the B-5 Kings Hwy had the Twin Coaches from Ulmer Park, and the day Ulmer Park got the new Macks, The B-5 was switched to the Flatbush Garage and now had the 1951 Binghams.Macks |

Crosstown received the order before Fifth Avenue, 7530-7544. Fresh Pond received 7575-7589. FLU (CS) received the order after FP, 7590-76??. Not too long after, FLU's order was transferred over to FP. A Politician from the Flushing area (Stravitsky?) had noticed the disappearance of these new buses that were assigned to FLU and brought it to the media's attention. "Where did our new buses go to? We want them back." Of course I knew that they went to FP.Too bad the batwings weren't installed. It would have been interesting to see batwing buses operating from every depot. |

I thought FLU had up to 7604?.I remember HUD having 7700-7724?, FFS 7725-775X. KB had 7833-7852, COL had 7853-7877, WF had 7878-7918 and AMS had 7919-7937. Shortly after delivery WF lost 7899 to a fire and 7918 was sent to AMS. |

Outside of the Bronx depots I didn't know where the groups started/ended. I'm not sure of the exact number that Flatbush had, but it was somewhere between 3 and 7. 9120 was one of the two buses that had the red stripe that Museum 9098 now sports; 9000 was the other bus. |

Also, I've seen photos of the very low numbered 6000's running on Fresh Pond routes, so I suspect Fresh Pond may have received some of them new also. |

The last one of those buses ran out of Ulmer Park depot. #9178 was the number and this was back in 1993. I actually miss those buses. Living in Brooklyn, I saw plenty of 7500s, saw 7600s occasionally in the Bronx, and 7700/7800s in Manhattan (there was one 7700 or 7800 that somehow was assigned in Brooklyn early on, I believe it was at ENY as I saw it on the old B47). |

Maybe Queens was late in getting the kneeling Flxibles. At the time I was a daily Q76 rider between Whitestone and Jamaica, so always got a good luck at the equipment from all three garages. I frequently walked around Manhattan in late 1975 but never noticed anything more than the usual MABSTOA 1963-68 Fishbowls. My only exposure to the Bronx and Brooklyn was from elevated trains, which made it difficult to notice many buses. So those boroughs must've gotten the new buses first.The first bus of this series I ever saw on a Queens route was on Christmas Day 1975. It was on FLU's Q16 on 29th Avenue. It had the hump on the roof for the radio transmitter that was absent from all FLU equipment except some of the 1962 Fishbowls. I don't recall the number, but it was not in the same range that would follow. It wasn't for several weeks that I saw another new Flxible on any Queens route. By February they seemed to be everywhere. During midwinter break I rode a Bronx bus for the first time, the BX12 on its old City Island routing. It was also a kneeling Flexible. They resembled the 1973 Flxibles enough to not look terribly out of place on FLU and QV routes- lack of standee windows notwithstanding. But they looked very strange running out of JAM, which had been strictly Fishbowl territory for years. Those running out of FLU didn't have the roof hump, but I recall that the ones from QV and JAM did. The same pattern existed with the 4300-4400 series 1970 Fishbowls that ran out of all three Queens garages. I seem to remember FLU initially having 7590-7599 only, with roughly 7600-7613 at JAM and 7614-7629 at QV. Someone else in this thread recalls FLU's stock going up to 7604. It so happens that FLU had 1973 Flxibles 7175-7204 at that time. |

Towards their later years in service, they all wound up at various depots. Some TA 7500-7600's wound up at OA depots and some 7700-7900's wound up at TA depots as well. As far as the 7900's, 7920,7923,7924 and 7926 found their way to Fresh Pond. |

I moved out of Queens late 1988 and wasn't there on a day to day basis, otherwise I probably could've had the answer. The last GM New Look definitely was a Blitz.I could tell you the last Old Look I saw out of Fresh Pond was 7030. The last non-AC GM New Look that I had seen out of Fresh Pond may have been 2109. These all of course were running on the B53/Q54. |
