Our Nova artics, which were to arrive in March of last year, arrived in September of last year. Something tells me Nova is becoming the new Orion, when it comes to delays.Plus the buses aren't too reliable either, only one was running today. Maybe I picked a bad day or something. |

SEPTA ordered (185) Nova artics and (90) 40 fts.If they are lemons , we will be in deep chit. The one they sent us last year was full of troubles, and was sent back. ,#7300. It is coming back with recommended changes by Septa and will join the rest of the fleet when it comes in.

Someone else told me the same thing about the buses being ready and even showed us a photo of fleet #7368, so the delay may be on Septa's side. They will get here eventually and it can't be soon enough, our artic fleet (Neoplan's) is hurting. |

One theory about the delay that I had seen was that the delays are in fact on SEPTA's side; the theory is that SEPTA is delaying the deliveries until the TWU labor issues are resolved. It's aggravating, but I can see the logic in that it would be rather embarrassing for SEPTA to begin accepting buses, only to have to stop accepting the new buses because employees at the Germantown shops (where new buses are accepted and equipped) went on strike. |

Except that they would have had to pay liquidated damages (aka late fees) anyways, so the free buses are nothing in the context of the situation. Sounds strange, but that's how Orion usually did it. Extra buses equal to the value of liquidated damages and/or parts credits.To be honest liquidated damages probably affect everyone in the industry, just that Orion had a more visible way of dealing with it, if that makes sense. |

Edited July 4th 2014 14:15 After many months of rumors and perhaps one rumor about the fate of this order, the first production bus (7306) has arrived on SEPTA's property at Germantown. This bus for the next few weeks will be used for testing. If it passes the evaluation, SEPTA will give the delivery a green light. The article also stated that Novabus is being fined $100 a day per bus which is late. Well, perhaps if these buses were not so customized – SEPTA would receive them on time. This has been the second order in recent years where the manufacturer has been fined due to lateness. The previous order which was late was Rotem with the delivery of the Silverliner V. In any case – that is neither here nor there. The bottom line is that SEPTA need new buses. The older artic buses which SEPTA have are causing all sorts of reliability issues. These buses are set to be due here by 1st quarter 2016. It has unknown yet whether or not these will be hybrid.
