1. MTA Bus seems to spend an inordinate amount of time and effort in getting various approvals for the routes buses take where there are no bus stops. Greater flexibility for management and greater convenience for passengers would likely result if management were permitted to authorize any reasonable route that does not affect the service of passenger stops.

2. The Q41 report seems to be long on technical analysis and short on political analysis. That is, it reinforces the perception that the MTA knows what is "best" for us, and that actual subjective perception of the electorate is largely irrelevant. Long live centralized planning!

It think it's about time the changes for the Q41 and Bx24(which should have at least gone to Westchester Square at its inception) came to be. But the B103 should have been left alone.

The B103 change is stupid, I like the alternative presented where northbound buses travel up the wider 4th Avenue, and hopefully whoever reviews this chooses that alternative, especially since 5th Avenue is also prone to delays. Either way, a northbound stop in front of Atlantic Terminal should most definitely be added.

I like the Q41 change, although I still think it should go to the Rockaways.

Whoever reviews the Bx24 change should just choose the alternative of extending it to Grant Circle and eliminating the Bx4A, I feel that the route pattern in that area is headed in that direction anyway.

Maybe not approval by the MTA Board, but there are layers of internal approval . . . look at the necessity to write a formal report and get approval signatures. Many successful companies got to where they are as a result of empowering lower level managerial and non-managerial employees to make decisions themselves without having to wait for approvals from headquarters.

The B103 problems to me are on the City of New York...they messed up something that wasn't broken---and will now require construction and rewiring to undo---by preventing 4th Avenue from being able to access Flatbush Avenue directly.

I like the Q41 proposal, but I would have done it a little differently, as such

* To Jamaica, via Rockaway Boulevard, continue past 109 Avenue, left on Linden Boulevard, left on Hawtree Creek Road, left on 128 Street, past 109 Avenue, and the proposed route.
* To Howard Beach: via Atlantic Avenue, left on 130 Street (a 2-way street), right on 101 Avenue, left om 129 Street, continue onto Hawtree Creek Road (a minor one-block direction reversal would be required with a traffic light at the 6-way intersection of 111 Avenue/126 Street/Hawtree Creek Road), right on Linden Boulevard, right on Rockaway Boulevard, past 109 Avenue, and then the proposed route.

Too many people are affected going south for this plan to work as I see it---in addition, by placing the Q41 on Linden Boulevard instead of 109 Avenue, there is better access to the supermarket by Linden Boulevard.

This would also provide a better spacing between the Q41 and the Q112, more even route coverage with the Q9, and have the Q41 provide service to Aqueduct and the Home Depot. There would also be a lot fewer turns needed, and travel time would go down because there is more time spent on a 4-lane road, with fewer turns.

Unfortunately those either don't happen or aren't given to the board. Given the blatant exceeding of loading guidelines that I see on some MTA Bus Co routes, I think it's the former.

That would cost extra money, though, unless you terminated the current Bx4A buses at the Parkchester (6)<6> station. Combining the Bx4A/Bx24 would be cost-neutral, but the problem is that the route would be too long, and there would be artics running in Country Club.

Getting rid of the Bx4A should mean that the Bx4 would require at least 1 less bus for its operation throughout the day since the Bx4A is longer though.

Bx4 - same
Bx14 - (combined Bx4A/Bx24) West Farms Road / Southern Blvd - Country Club
Bx27 - extended to the Hub to replace the Bx4A which is cut back

The B103 continues to get raped. It is slowly becoming just another bus route. It's no longer the super limited it used to be back when Command was around.

If 3 Av is a problem just send it via 4 av/ Atlantic Av/ 3 Av/ Path. 7 av has to deal with the B 67 and B 69 and 5 Av is the B 63 and double parking, I cant wait til the end of the year to see this revise back to 3 or 4 av. Bad job NYDOT and MTA

Exactly, that's what I said. Regardless, that option is one of the alternatives presented and hopefully the MTA considers it.
