That road (as well as other bad roads like the FDR Drive, the Belt Parkway, and the Jackie Robinson Parkway) is beautiful as long as there are no other cars at the time. There are too many assholes who don't know how to drive on those roads, and the roads are usually too crowded to go faster than 50 without getting killed. The scenic winding roads I referred to have very little traffic, even in the middle of a Sunday in the summer. Up in Sussex County, New Jersey or parts of Orange or Ulster Counties in New York. |

Well, I have 134,000 miles on my car, and I bought it new in May of 2005. And when I go to Brooklyn (or any other NYC borough besides Staten Island), 99.9% of the time I take public transportation. I obviously love driving also, but it is no fun driving in places like New York City. |

I went to Queens today. I drove. It took 21 minutes. I parked 1 block from my destination, and I was able to drop off and pick up right out front. By bus and subway it would have taken at least 90 minutes I would guess. And I would have frozen my tuchus off. Driving pwns. |

The only Broad Street Subway stations that I remember are City Hall and Girard, and both were very dirty. Fast overrules ugly to a certain degree, it's acceptable on the DE30AC and DM30AC and pushed it on the R40 Slant, but is unacceptable on the current Broad Street subway cars. |

Aren't there times on weekends when traffic is pretty bad in New York City? I've seen back ups at many of the bridges (free and tolled), I've seen roads like the Belt Parkway barely moving for several miles through sections of Brooklyn and Queens, and not just during the summer, and driving on the local streets in the boroughs takes forever beacuse of the traffic lights and stop signs at most intersections. And I see no fun dealing with that. |

If you're cruising along doing 65, and come around a blind curve with a guy doing 45 in front of you, then you can be in trouble if there are cars next to you. Nowhere for you to go. In any case, the bottom line is that the Henry Hudson Parkway was not designed for high speeds. The NY Thruway north of the Bronx/Yonkers border is, as well as most interstates in New Jersey and Connecticut. Most "parkways" are too narrow and too curvey for high speeds. |

Pattison Station looks like it was redone in the 1970's, it's one of the more modern looking stations. And the underground stations north of City Hall have interesting tiled walls. |
