There are several smaller properties that still want high floors, and as I stated in a previous post, its the smaller orders that Millennium needs to focus on to gain cash to work on the larger orders.There are still a couple of the Big Boys that want high floors (DART in Dallas is a prime example). I think it is a smart business idea for Millennium to offer both High and Low Floors. Either way, happy they've restructured and looks like they have it together. I wish them all the luck. |

I wish them well and hope they do things the RIGHT way without biting off more than they can chew.I notice that they seem to have gotten away from the "RTS cutaway" idea. I just wish they were able to make a 30ft version of the RTS - it would surely help with those smaller properties that want to purchase small heavy duty buses that have more seats than a cutaway. Novabus and Millenium are back in the US....finally, diversity may return! Hopefully Millenium can come up with a more attractive RTS Extreme...it's the 21st Century, and that RTS-08 front is just hideous! |

AC Transit has some 2003 40LFWs that look, drive and ride like they were built in 1993.I'll take a NABI over an O7 but let's be real...they're not the best built buses. The fastest speed I've encountered on an RTS is approx. 20-25 mph.The slow speed on the RTS is one of the main reasons why I like them. As Evan outlined in his book, the RTS 08 redesign came about because the original RTS front door was not wide enough to allow wheelchairs to be boarded there. Any low-floor variation of the RTS must allow for a front-door ramp, so a version of the '08' front or even a new design will be required. As it is, the transit industry is moving away from the idea of boarding wheelchairs through the back door, so I wouldn't be surprised if there are few customers for new high-floor RTS's from Millennium with the classic front. |

It was no secret those buses were having problems some drivers said that on here. And they mentioned the electrical system not me. You sound biased just look at your name on here. I like RTS buses but those probably would not have handled NJT punishment. Yes they may be running fine now but look where they are now Foxwoods, Texas A&M and Pueblo. Please none of those are in NJT league. I hope they can make it I like that rear axle moved up turning must be alot easier and I really like high floor buses. |

Nor has anyone, for that matter - which is why I left the chapter as saying neither MTS or NJT would comment on why the order was cancelled, instead of providing vague or possibly false information.Internet rumors, especially from "drivers," are interesting - one had previously claimed 4101 and 4201 carried serial numbers from the aborted NYCTA hybrid RTS', but conveniently "gave the figures to a friend" and had no means to contact him to acquire the information again. Turns out he was lying through his spincter - data I've since acquired has proved otherwise - so you can see why I'm trying to verify this as best I can. When it comes to discerning 'research' from 'rumor,' the Internet proves to be a fickle beast. I'd love to hear specifics, as no bus (re: NO BUS) is perfect, but just saying "problems" or "electrics" is rather vague, especially when other fleets haven't reported any problems of the same nature. Ken S had suggested a more likely scenario some time ago - MTS didn't have the funds to purchase parts for a 200-something-odd bus order, and NJT would only fork over money once said order was complete. Subsequent customers (re: Texas A&M) were from private customers that could pay up front, and surprise! - the order was fulfilled. |

Here's what is known and documentable:- the only MTS RTSes that ever saw NJT revenue service were the demos 4101 (transit) and 4201 (suburban) - when the 6 production units were sent to NJ in February 2007, they did not make it out of NJT testing and never saw revenue service - MTS had produced additional NJT buses that were not sent to NJ - NJT gave MTS every opportunity to meet the delivery schedule, even when the "audit shutdown" was announced in March 2007 - whatever the problems were, they were severe enough for NJT to reject the 6 production units - MTS only had $6 million in assets Since neither party will discuss the cancellation other than that it occurred, it is likely a legal settlement that was "sealed" and can not be discussed... which makes sense as there could have been payment ramifications depending on which side called it off and why. Millennium's survival will not come from the RTS Legend. They will have to adapt to what the market wants if they want to be considered anything more than a small player. Their chance to be a major cog would have come not from the first NJT order of 289 units, but if they had also gotten the 1145-unit contract that NABI won. No one could ignore 1434 Millennium RTSes in New Jersey. |

I've been expressing skepticism about this whole thread from the beginning, and that stems from a lot of shenanigans I've experienced in dealing with this firm.All I did was ask for some solid, factual information from you, and you start twisting things. Don't know what made you want to do that, but whatever... I'd love to see the RTS come back, but it won't. Why? Because that's reality. Read my book - I admit it served its purpose in serving as an "interim" bus between HF and LF eras, and that as good as a bus as it was, LF is the way of the future. GM even thought so; the RTX wouldn't have been built if it didn't. I'm passionate for the RTS, but I'm not delusional. Those proclaiming an updated website as a sign of MTS being "back" (or proclaiming 'YES BITCHES!' in return) may be, but I never was part of that welcome wagon. Read the thread for yourself. |
