I see what you are saying. I agree with (1), however I disagree with 2 and 3.

Regarding 2: It would be permissible if it were a private charter or subscription service, but you do have the right to impose it on people who don't want it as long as they are obtaining the franchise from the City and it is a public bus where everyone is allowed to ride, believers and non-believers.

I am not saying that the City should force them to sit together, but they do have the right to revoke that franchise if they continue to force non-believers to sit separately. I know you agreed with me that if someone does not want to sit segregated, he or she should not be forced to.

I also disagree that no one is being harmed under the current setup since people may be required to stand when seats may be available in the other section and a female who has difficulty walking may be forced to walk further than she would like to because of that rule. Of course, you could argue that people would be harmed if everyone were forced to sit together but no one is proposing that, just that they make allowances when someone does not want to sit separately.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.
