We're finally making progress here. I don't know how else I can explain my viewpoint to you, other than repeating myself ad nauseum, but it seems to be working.

1. Gender segregation if forced upon someone unwillingly is illegal (under US law) and harmful to the individual(s) it is imposed upon.
2. Gender segregation that is self-imposed upon a group of people (in this case the riders of the B110) who voluntarily all agree to the scheme is permissible and doesn't harm everyone. In the same way you don't want a gender segregated seating arrangement imposed upon you, you have no business imposing the opposite on people who don't want it (especially since AFAIK you have no plans to ride this bus).
3. The reporter in question had no business making an issue out of this, because the scenario that is being played out here is scenario 2, not scenario 1. Should scenario 1 actually occur, then making an issue out of it is appropriate.
