Yes, perhaps slower. But the maggots will do their thing regardless of the casket. Actually, I believe in the south, like in New Orleans (where they have those above ground burials because of the water table), it's even faster. They place the body in there, it's so hot in those things that the body disintergrates very fast, and I believe if someone in the family dies a year or more after the burial, they just push the little that's left (dust mostly) to the back, and put the next deceased in the burial thing.

In many cemeteries, the graves don't have to be concrete lined. In Cypress Hills cor example the wooden casket is just buried into the ground. Some cemeteries requite the concrete lining (so in 5 to 10 years the the casket doesn't collapse causing that distinctive inward bulge in the grave). Jews in the Jewish sections of those cemeteries are allowed not to have a bottom though, so the body touches the ground).
