The "Spanish" language started off in a specific part of Spain (Castile), and is also thus known as "castellano" (Castilian). Other Spanish tongues include Catalan (spoken in Barcelona IIRC), Basque (spoken in the North and not a Romance language, unlike most Spanish languages), and others (whose names escape me at the moment). |
