When I went to events for Jewish Deaf Singles, that wasn't the problem. The problem was a shortage of oral deaf and hard of hearing Jews (my variety) - the events were heavily concentrated upon signing deaf. Furthermore, the (Orthodox Union-organized) group focused on Shabbat, much to the anglophones' discomfort (i.e., they shomered Shabbos, with all that implies). |
