Good to see that we can still have new transit construction in America. The WMATA Els exemplify the type of Els than can be built in New York and other cities to extent the rapid transit lines without necessitating the expense of tunneling new subway. |

The profile of post-tension construction is massively greater compared to the other elevated structures that WMATA has elsewhere on the railroad. The best looking concrete elevated on metrorail in my opinion is segment at National Airport John in the sand box of Maryland's eastern shore. |

Nice picturesThank you. Do you know if the project is on schedule and when is the line going to open. Dulles Transit Partners is claiming that the project is scheduled to be completed on time in late 2013. WTOP reported that utility relocation along Leesburg Pike (two stations on west end of Tysons Corner) has slowed things some, but they believe they will overcome the problem. Project manager: Tysons rail construction delayed 10 26 2010 1044 Adam Tuss and others wtop.com In my opinion I think it will completed and ready for opening in early 2014. Might I suggest the series might make a good book someday. As in coffee table picture book? If I were to put such a book together I would have loved to have gotten and get more up close and inside picture. Pictures of concrete pours, picture of the miners working in the tunnels. Pictures of bridge beams being set, trucks hauling precast concrete segment from the casting plant to the construction site. . . . Unfortunately I have nether the time nor resource to get some of the pictures I would really like to get. John in the sand box of Maryland's eastern shore. |
