As I said in a previous post, that tower may be the original one from the time the Myrtle El stub ended at the old station which was past the curve.

Yes, there are "so" many trees on streets where there are els, you know how nicely trees would be growing up through the tracks on el streets....

I would agree with that, except for the fact that originally the tracks originally went further onto Myrtle Ave instead of turning onto Palmetto St, and going straight would have sent it RIGHT into the tower if it had been there. Here's a photo of when the tracks continued passed Palmetto St onto Myrtle in the location of the tower, before making a cuurve on private ROW past that building you see with the turret. On Palmetto St, you see them building the extension of the current M line over Palmetto St, the curve the tracks now take. If only the photoghrapher had panned to the right. And also, if only this photo was taken a year later, we could have seen if there were switches to the middle track! Notice in this photo though, the center trackway is not present between the two tracks...another thing that makes you say "hmmmmmm". Photo from Queenspix.com:

Don't forget that prior to the dual contracts, the el was the same all the way from downtown Bkln to the Wyckoff terminal thus the track alignment was not the same as it was after the reconstruction of Wyckoff in its present location as a 3 track island platform station.
