Posted by Train Man Paul : Metro-North's Best Conductor FOR ALL 3 LINES!!! on Mon May 31 06:11:53 2010 Here are a couple of snippets while I changed from my equipment from #6504 to my equipment for #6515 in New Haven yard yesterday......"Red" 'round the bend, Track 67......  Awfully "Pink" M-2, aka "Pinkie" (I thought the NH was "Red"!! :- /)  Candy stripe "Reds"......  But of course, I always get hooked up with the tired looking ones!! But at least it wasn't a "Pinkie"!! :-D Tired M-2 on Track 66, east end of #6515......  Once I am done backing east into the station at New Haven (Track 8), we catch a "Bomb & Gennie" consist laid up in the station, Track 12, P32AC-DM #204 hummin' away!!......  #204 nose up to the 12E signal......  Thank you for viewing!! Hope you enjoyed!! And a very Happy Memorial Day to any Subchatter here who is, or has been a military person who has/is serving this great nation, in times of peace or times of conflict, past and present!! Those M-2s, and some M-4s, paint was never re-coated, in fact I believe those are still in their original paint!! That is what happens when they sit out constantly in the sun in places like the New Haven Line yards. I would think also washing in acid solution didn't help either. Some cars paint seem to hold up more than others. Also another factor to possibly consider.....the salty air from the Long Island Sound, which can also wreak havoc on paint!! Prime example.....look at the discoloration of the once Tuscan Red paint on the Hell Gate Bridge!! |
