Earlier this month, Mayor Bloomberg announced essentially that the City will not so assist. There is also an IRS regulation issue, which is why they have to make the end of the year under their current plan. |

I will try to ask my friend with the bay improvement group tonight his opinion on the scale and zoning. He is a lawyer who handles property issues.I think the major issue would be traffic and extra parking |

The Ratner project seems to be doomed even with the favorable court rulings. Bad timing. The real estate and office markets collapse. The Nets are in trouble maybe because the project has taken so long and like you say the NJ ticket holders ahve already said 'bye-bye'. That and the ups and downs of every sports team. The whole traffic thing is absurd. People are going to drive to the Brooklyn arena, if it ever gets built. You might go there by train but wouldn't want to ride the train after a game. Flatbush & Atlantic is bad enough now, imagine it with the arena traffic. |

Back in the 1970s, Sheepshead Bay was a quiet out of the way neighborhood. It never got that rundown, except maybe near that motel on the water side, can't think of it's name now. |

Technically, he announced opposition to any help with financing or subsidy, but that's practically the same thing as other opponents anyway. |

I would never eat at those Chinese take out turned into sushi places, unless I know for sure they were trained to handle raw fish and follow the practice. Heck, I wouldn't buy any Chinese food in Sheepshead Bay either, except for the bakery next to the subway. I sometimes buy squid and shrimp at the fish store nearby but I use it for bait, not for consumption. |

It should be more obvious that I don't live in the neighborhood any more. I'm glad New York City has improved beyond my wildest expectations since I lived there, but it has inevitably lost huge chunks of its soul. Louis Vuitton bags abound where F.W.I.L. can't survive. I would be amazed if you can still buy a cod off a boat and carry it home in your bicycle basket or, for that matter, your Hummer. |
