Subway In Geico Commercial |
|
Posted by TimothyT610 on Sun Nov 23 01:41:03 2008 Very likely this was a subject on SubChat back when it first made its debute, but does anyone know what subway that's featured in the Geico commercial is, where the gecko says to the woman on the seat next to him "See that guy over there? He's giving me the heeby jeebies!"??? I know it's not New York. |

The dirt doesn't show as much as when the seats were solid red. Our other light rail and bus seats are similar although not identical. |

Yes, only the red/purple line is a "subway", the Gold, Green, and Blue lines are light rail: Here's what the red/purple line trains look like, a typical subway. I took this photo in 2005, and I think it's the Hollywood Blvd/Highland Ave station: |

I posted that photo back in 2005 here right around when I took it. I have ridden all the lines in LA, escept the Green line. The Green line looked sort of boring to me, and I have driven that it's in plenty of times, so figured "how different can it be", lol, so figured I didn't want to spend time doing that line....again, as I have been stuc in traffic on the freeway it's in plenty of times. |

Nice shot.LACMTA is looking at connecting the gold/blue light rail lines underground. There would be 4 underground stations with at least 24 tph at rush hour. I wonder if that would be a subway. I would say so. LA's light rail lines are kind of a hybrid with high platforms and lots of grade separation. |

The Green Line is okay -- it goes quite fast at points, and the elevated structure west of Aviation/LAX is quite interesting. But, as you said, the freeway portion can get a bit monotonous. |

The top picture is a Riverline GTW 2/6, it even says "New Jersey Transit 3516" in the caption. The bottom photo is a LA LRT, either a Nippon Sharyo or one of the Siemens cars, I'd guess a Nippon Sharyo on the Green Line from the highway visible through the window.A picture of the Red Line's current interior can be found on NYCsubway.org: Notice that the pattern is virtually identical to that in the LRT from Easy's post. I kinda prefered the red seats, just cause I remember them from trips into LA in the early 90s. |
