Of course there will be SOME expansion and the rolling stock will look SOMEWHAT different, but on the whole, how much can possibly be changed for the better? (beides the obvious stuff) |

Well, we I was a boy, the recording at Union Square on the Lexington was a man who sounded like a gangster saying, "Please stand clear of the moving platform as trains enter and leave the station." Last time I was there the voice was that of a woman with the tiniest bit of a Latin American accent. In 50 years, it will be a simulation of the voice of the most recent person to enter using his ID card in the 3rd turnstile (assuming there will even be turnstiles). |

The advantage of the RFID chip is that it will be easier to put voices in people's heads. The tinfoil hats will not work, but depending on where the RFID chip is inserted, people may want to wear tinfoil jockey shorts. |

Plans afoot to create one continuous station with entrances each block and trains stopping every 750 feet. - Railfans bemoaning the scrapping of R-375 subway cars. R-160 and lower cars considered safety hazards and not allowed to run with passengers on nostalgia trips. - MTA broadening its jurisdiction over an area of land ranging from Washington DC to Manchester, New Hampshire to Cleveland. |

Transit Museum's Nostalgia trip features R-160'sI wonder if any new tech trains will be kept for the museum. If anything, an R-142 or 142A might be kept as an example of the first equipment of its type ever to be used in the system. Even at that, can they run as a two-car set? But two cars may rule out fantrips. I can't see them wasting space for a full five cars, especially with all of the other lists being made up of equipment "worth" keeping. |

So maybe they will get saved for the museum. But i wonder if the MTA would save any R46s or R44s. They can just save one of the frankin ave shuttle sets for the R68s. but i douht that they would save any R142/As for the museum... |

The R-110s were the first new tech, but they saw fairly little use compared to the R-142/A's which also represent a design that will soon be the look of a good part of the system. An R-44 or 46 and an R-142/A should be kept for display, but for practical reasons it might not be possible to keep them operable. A Franklin Ave Shuttle set seems like an obvious choice for the R-68s, but it would be nice to have real rollsigns in place rather than those place-boards -nitpick-. |

The first new station of the 2nd Ave shuttle line opens at 72nd Street.2. The MTA operating deficit is so bad, they allow licensing of bootleg DVD peedlers for an annual fee. 3. Every station is renamed to a corporate sponsor. Most Vicker's style mosaic tabledt are covered with ugly sigs like McDonalds/96th Street or Continental Airlines/Forest Hills. 4. TM has summer fantrips using the R160 cars. The rest of the museum fleet is sent up the river on a weeks barge, including 100, 381, 484, 1575 and the like. 5. The G line runs every hour. |
