Say Kev, how often did you run local up the Grand Councourse during the PM rush? You said a while back that your PM run was the last Concourse local before rush hour and that on occasion you'd switch the marker light on the cab side from white to green and got the express lineup.

I remember the (7) line still used them after this date for express service. Green and Red were used!

Towards the end, the bulkhead lights (route, destination, marker, local/exp) on the WF R-36s were disabled because of some sort pf problem.

Yep. In fact, I think the EXP/LOCAL lights were used on the 7 until 2001 or so, when the TA stopped repairing them, as the trains were set for imminent reefing.

And, in a sense, with the Green circle and Red diamond, they've been brought back to the 7!

Had to do with a resistor inside the cab above the cab door burning up and causing a smoke condition inside the cab. Don't know why it suddenly started causing problems.

They upped the voltage on the third rail and didn't replace the resistors with a new value to drop the voltage properly.

They're only used on the Newark-WTC run now. All other services are 100% PA5 but the end signs follow the color codes for their respective routes.

Now if PATH can have color coded LED signs, why can't the MTA do the same thing on the NTTs???
