How are the conductors using a switch that was previously wired B+ off the reversor? Are they using a key switch to power it or is it fed off the zone relays? |

You know..all of this can be solved with one very simple wave of the "wand"..so to speak.Change the "7 EXPRESS" TO THE "11". Then the riders will KNOW for SURE what train it is...if the 7 is the local at ALL TIMES, the 11 is the deak directional EXPRESS. |

That problem can be solved with station signage and platform signage indicating what the arriving train will do.There already are such signs at Grand Central (or at least there were a few years ago). Electronic signs wouldn't even be necessary at Times Square, since expresses almost always leave from the outbound track. |

Alright fine, they don't have that, but in my limited experience with the R33s and R36s on the Flushing line they were rarely turned to reflect the destination anyway. A Flushing bound 7 train was just as likely to have "Times Square" displayed on the rear end. As such I can't quite see why the front end destination sign was neccesary. Clearly the MTA agreed, since they eliminated those signs completely. |

Funny at Times Square, I thought that both of the tracks on the single platform station are "out-bound" tracks. Those same tracks could also be called "in-bound" tracks but since Times Square is the last stop, that's a minor nit-pick.Just because #7 express trains tend to operate from a particular track - when all of the tracks have the same function/capability - does not make that track anymore special. Clearly the MTA agreed, since they eliminated those signs completely.I guess it could go back to the days when people knew their trains by route or destination rather than number or letter. However, most other systems in the country still have front end destination signs, so some still feel that it serves a purpose. I think the EXP/LCL lights were even more important and were definitely a mistake to eliminate as it has already come back to haunt them. |

The D types had bridge/tunnel indicators. The word "BRIDGE" lit up in green and the word "TUNNEL" lit up in white. To correspond to the side signs' color coding, the end signs lit up green if the train were operating via the bridge and white if it were operating via the tunnel. |

If they had, the LCDs would have covered over important parts of the route bullet. In order to make the LCDs bigger, they would have needed to either install new smaller route bullets, or figured out a way to install them in the blacked out area of the window. |

Two centimeters might make a significant readability difference. But it might also cover too much of the route bullets. If you want the LCD to be bigger, I think it is an issue of maybe using some other designation besides LCL/EXP. Maybe L and E.
