BTW I just applied to MiniComputer Aide position with DCAS.

Are there chances to be placed in MTA?
In addition, there will be Graphic Designer "exam" from MTA.
I will apply on it.

Is there, any Other Way to ride R110A or R110B?

Me too!

I've heard rumors that the R110a needs something minor, like a new compressor, and it could run...

But why bother? Although they were neat (much more attractive than R142/3/160, IMO), they've served their purpose.

I got inside, but not that particular unit outside the school. That unit wasn't used for our training.

Why?
Should a museum preserve an "odd ball" car?
The museum should perserve more historic cars and not waste space on a test bed car. A simple display could interpert what the R110 contract did for the TA.

I think the reason why an R11 was perserved was because it was the 1st
stainless steel subway car.

That R110A is sitting at 239 yard in two 5 car units(8001-05,8006-10) on 11 and 12 tracks gathering rust and dust. They have them on blocks so I dont know when and if they are doing anything with them anytime soon.

There was a train of stainless cars built for the BMT by Budd in 1934, a full 15 years before the R-11s. But, the R-11s did introduce some interesting concepts in subway car design, like ultraviolet lights in the roof spaces to kill germs...

Very nice.

Hopefully, I'll get assigned to a put-in out of 239th Street Yard soon.

Oh,i almost forgot about that.Budd built the Zephyr for experimental
runs on the Fulton St El.back then, the City wanted lightweight
equipment for their El's.they were also one of the first subway cars
in NYC to have door chimes on them.too bad they wern't saved.

One of two ways G1..

They put you on AM's and you get one of those jobs on that deuce or the 5 train out of there or...

You stay on Bway on the PM's and they give you one of the two PM put-in jobs on that deuce( no number 5 train put-ins on the PM's out of 239 yard). Those jobs pay 10+ hrs( Well at least until the pick ends then after that the money is gone and one of them dont have a put-in any more).

Thats tricky for C/R's it depends on what time you clear and what job you are working. C/R's with WAA time at the end of most of thier jobs are working that Platform at Nereid Ave or White Plains for a minute Cleaning out trains. Just make sure you check with somebody about WAA times with certain jobs on the 5 or the 2 train at the White Plains or Nereid ave Stations, all 5 jobs when the C/R has WAA cleans out a train or two then either they sign out at 239 Yard(AM jobs and 2 PM jobs this Pick after this pick ends those 2 PM jobs 301,302 sign out AT Dyre instead of the yard) or deadhead to Dyre for thier next trip again depends on the job.If you want to go to the yard you will have to ask a T/O that you just want to "hitch a ride",shouldnt be a problem then again depends on the T/O as well some of em are kinda funny about "guests",helps after a while when your face gets known.
