Great find. Thanks for sharing! Much has stayed the same, but much has changed for sure. I only watched from Penn to Stamford so far -- a few things I found interesting...

It looks like only a single track was in use for all or part of the run from the Hell Gate to Shell Interlocking. That will soon be four tracks if I'm remembering correctly.

The New Rochelle toll booths still in existence.

Although the train does not stop, at this date Rye is the Amtrak station for Westchester county and New Rochelle is only a Metro North station.

Four and six car trains on the New Haven Line. Two-car New Canaan shuttle!

The Stamford skyline has completely changed. First Stamford Place, one of the earliest major complexes in the downtown area is under construction just to the left approaching Stamford station.

The new Stamford station is under construction as well, with the old station still in use. This is the first I've seen of Stamford before the current station was in place and in use. Platform and track configuration is completely changed.

Thanks again!

Soon? It's getting built? Where did the money come from? I don't recall either the MTA or Amtrak or any private operator putting up the cash.

I was trying to see if the switches to the tracks of the NYW&B were visible

IIRC that single track is a dedicated CSX track for Long Island to/from freights

That will soon be four tracks if I'm remembering correctly.

I think the bridge over the Hutchinson River and other places will remain 2 tracks. But there will be 4 tracks where the new stations are being built.

Weren't the parallel NYW&B tracks and the connections pretty much wiped out by the construction of the New England Thruway?

I'd say more like the construction of the Brunker expressway did more to wipe out any connections. I wonder if the Hunts Pt Ave NYW&B sta building is still there?. When I worked at Oak Pt. decades ago, I believe it housed a topless joint.

OK, I was thinking about the connection in Larchmont, not the one in the South Bronx.

Almost amusing that people still think Metro-North is going to jam trains onto that bottleneck into NYP.

Oh sure, once they put up the money and somehow get LIRR to surrender tunnel slots, because the East River tunnels have been completely restored . . . oh wait . . .

Money has been put up for the Metro-North’s Penn Access, construction is underway and the LIRR will give up the slots. Amtrak’s East River Tunnels restoration, well that’s another story as to when that will ever happen.

Yes, the station buildings at Hunts Point and Westchester Av are both still there. Both have fallen into disrepair, though the Hunts Point building somewhat less so - it is currently being repurposed as a events venue called Bronxlandia. For a long time prior to that it was largely rented as storage space.
The Westchester Av station is mostly crumbling as far as I can tell.

The Design/Build contact was awarded, construction work has definitely begun including on several bridges along the route and one interlocking.

The LIRR will give up the slots whether they want to or not because their parent will tell them to. This will be accomplished by moving some trains they had moved from Grand Central Madison to Penn back to Grand Central Madison.
