Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Sun Jun 2 08:18:43 2024 Tuscarora Almanac for June 2 1940 – from The Book of First Runs The IRT Jerome Avenue Line is extended from 149th Street to Kingsbridge Road. 1975 – from The Book of Last Runs Highbridge and Mount St.Vincent Stations on the Penn Central Hudson Line are closed.

Posted by randyo* on Wed Jun 5 01:34:52 2024, in response to Re: Tuscarora Almanac for June 2, posted by zac on Tue Jun 4 09:35:41 2024.* I was told once although I’m not sure of the exact source that the IRT usually made every fourth station an express station regardless of its importance which may explain why Times Sq was not made an express stop on the original subway. The only reason that 96th St was made an express stop was because it was an important junction even though it didn’t fit the pattern.

Prospect Ave on the original IRT West Farms line is also an example of a local station just before a junction.
