Amtrak #20 , The Crescent |
|
Posted by TransitChuckG on Sun Jun 23 03:46:58 2019 My friends are riding #20 , they got on at BHM. Well before Atlanta, GA., the train stopped for mechanical issues, after 30 minutes they were rolling, again. Sometime during this early AM, today, they switched the engines around. #2 engine became #1 engine. That cost them more time but they are now making good progress in North Carolina. Hopefully, no more delays.....Those Amtrak diesels are tired, I saw where new ones are on the way. New engines-diesel |

We are sitting just north of Charlottesville for at least 30 minutes. Computer issues with the engine. The engine fleet is so unreliable, it's horrible . |

A few years ago I was coming back from Miami on the Silver "Starvation" following a cruise. We had only one engine. I was concerned to say the least. Fortunately we made it to Washington in good shape. |

My wife and I were on the Silver Star with two engines several years ago that hit a dump truck in South Carolina. The damaged engine was removed and the second engine had no problem forwarding the train to WAS. |
