The NJT agents at New Brunswick and Princeton Jct are limited in what they can do for Amtrak ticketing and reservation changes. |

"Nice lady?"Sarcasm, She was nice till she started screaming "Union was no help?" NOpe. Their advice "Sign a waiver, admit guilt and take the repremand or go to a hearing on "conduct unbecoming..." charges, found guilty get 10 days deferred suspension & a disqualification from selling tickets forever" I appealed the discipline, won & had the deferred suspension & repremand removed from my file...2 years later. So much for MTA justice. |

No union worth its salt tells you to give away your rights. Should have gone after them for failure to represent. At least you got the reprimand out of your record. |

That is a reasonable explanation of why reserved long-distance tickets are worth a pay differential over commuter tickets. |

"No union worth its salt tells you to give away your rights."Absolutely. But in this case, they had me by the balls. I did break a rule. The company was always suspected to be in bed with many RR unions. In my case, & many others, the company will throw you a bone with just a slap on the wrist to avoid a company trial. When you go that route, all the particulars have to show up, and they are all on the clock. The "nice lady" would be provided transportation to the hearing, a stenographer would have to be hired, transcripts would have to be copied & sent certified mail to all the particulars. IN other words, it gets very expensive. So there is the encouragement to sign the waiver, take your wrist slap & go back to work. Thats the was they did business back then. |
