This train never has an engine at each end, and never a cab car. Furthermore, 3 of the cars are Amfleet-2, and some of them are not train-lined for push-pull. |

The engine is changed at 30th Street. An AEM7 pulls the train from New York to Philly and is removed there. A P42DC or B32-8WH is added to the other end to pull the train to Pittsburgh. |

You're thinking of Keystone Service, whic is push-pull between New York and Harrisburg, changing direction at Philly.March 8, 2014: Keystone Service train 660 arriving and departing Trenton.

Amtrak ruined a bunch of P42's a year or two ago. They changed bolster springs on once side of the truck, and not the other, or something like that. In any case, they cracked the truck frame, which is not replaceable, so they had to swap trucks with out-of-use P40's with those of the P42's that had cracks. They are still short. |
