Amtrak ruined a bunch of P42's a year or two ago. They changed bolster springs on once side of the truck, and not the other, or something like that. In any case, they cracked the truck frame, which is not replaceable, so they had to swap trucks with out-of-use P40's with those of the P42's that had cracks. They are still short. |
