Looks exactly like an MP36 only cheaper. Also it's only getting 3600hp out of a V-20 diesel compared to 4200-4600 out of US designed V-12's and V-16's. I can't understand how people can sit around in a room and decide not to buy something off the shelf from MPI, or something new from an established builder like EMD or GE, but then pounce on an unproven offering from a maker of mining equipment and trolleys. Did they have a buy one get one free coupon or something? |

I can't understand how people can sit around in a room and decide not to buy something off the shelf from MPI, or something new from an established builder like EMD or GE, but then pounce on an unproven offering from a maker of mining equipment and trolleys. So you want trains to be made in America, but you don't want "unproven" designs. So who is going to make your commuter rail multiple unit or push-pull, metro, and Stadtbahn rolling stock when GE hasn't made one in four decades, and EMD and MPI have no experience at all? Somebody is going to have to be tne "unproven" builder getting their first shot. |

Well, it's got a prime mover with 263 cubic inches per cylinder (less than half the displacement of your typical 567), and it revs at 2100 rpm. High potential for being thirsty. |

EMD farmed out the final assembly to Super Steel who were basically incompetent. They had all kinds of labor relations problems and technical problems at their pop-up plant in Scotia.EMD probably should have farmed out the work to Kawasaki, Bombardier or Alstom who have established rail car plants in New York. |
