PS, 11 months ago it was posted someone with actual power and authority proposed having all trains stop before entering the station. From District 65. I'm sure Mr Crespo likes how the employees are engaging his ideal on here. |

So you're not opposed to slowing down enough versus slowing down at all?Anyway, gotta go to a musuem, I'll leave you with this tidbit. If you can prove you called the original poster a moron, whoever it was, which I do not know whom, I'll concede you are right, and we should make them go faster. Since this is an old idea I brought up, from your elected officials. :p |

Or unless you mean like what we do with school zones. Thank you, it was a great rebuttal.Of course I know you're being sarcastic, and you're against slow zones for pedestrian and school zones. Since you hate children right? |

I've nver operated, and I don't expect to operate a train. But simply driving my car for 28 years, I think of a few close calls- all but one involved children darting out. The most recent was 5 or 6 years ago- a kid, about 11 years old, on a bicycle, came out nowhere at all and passed right in front of me. Luckily I was doing about 10-15 mph and was able to stop without making contact. The boy continued racing away, not even aware of what nearly happened to him.I know that my life would never be the same if I hit a pedestrian or bicyclist-even if it was their fault. Reading that T/Os are lucky to go 5 years without a 12-9 really wakes you up. And think about the condition of a person hit by a train- damn.... |

Any normal human being will be severely affected at having killed or maimed another person, even if the victim brought it on him or herself. I've heard stories of cops crying over people they've shot, saying things like "oh God, don't die", etc.Certainly, if I was involved in the death of another human, even if 110% that person's fault, I'd never be the same as I was before. |

Posted by Q4 on Mon Jan 7 09:28:29 2013, in response to Re: NYC Subway Deaths Haunt Those at Trains’ Controls, posted by Easy on Fri Jan 4 20:21:23 2013. My father is a retired TO. He had several 12-9s and came accross two who were hit by earlier trains. One that he hit sticks out more than others and that was a woman who jumped. He vividly can recall the entire sequence of the events and the conversation he had with here afterwards (she didn't not die right away but did so before she was transported to the hospital.) So I really don't think it makes a difference what the circumstance was. |

I believe (and you operators would know more than me) it is standard 3 days (that is what my father got back when he was working) but you can get more if required. |
