Posted by Train Man Paul : Metro-North's Best Conductor FOR ALL 3 LINES!!! on Thu Apr 21 11:22:54 2011 On a beautiful Sunday afternoon and evening, while checking out the Target at Sky View Center in Flushing with the Miss, little ol' me checked out Da' Sssssseven action on the Flushing Line from a nice vantage point the Sky View Center parking lot offers from up overlooking the Flushing Line. And from that, this fine set of photos (I must say :-D) came to be, and now here to be shared with you all!!!Let's take a look....... Immediately, a "Ssssssssssseven to Times Square" emerges from the portal near Main Street  Out in the blue and the sun  With the sun and Citi Field in the background  As another "Sssssssssseven" approaches Main Street    A pair of Sevens in da' sun!!  Sevens and Citi Field!!! How I wish I could go back 15 years and replace this sight with Redbird R-36s and Shea Stadium!! :-)   Thank you all for viewing!! Hope you have enjoyed!! :-) |

You've given me a reason to go to Skyview Center, if only for the great views that were never previously available. Of course I would walk or take public transit.Using this location for a large shopping area with big-box chain stores seems ill-conceived since it's two long blocks from the subway and all but one of the bus lines that serves downtown Flushing. And to have to PAY to park in order to go shopping just goes against me. Yes, I know Queens Center, Kings Plaza and Newport Centre charge for parking. But they have numerous mass transit options directly serving them. |

The 7 train will always have a special place in my heart...and is one of my favorite lines to ride when I go up to New York (although it has been ages since I've been up there!). I really need to figure out how to get some great subway shots like these...buses are nice, but trains are even better. :) |

No, I decided to go with the standard package with the 18-105mm lens. The 18-200mm would certainly cover a much better range, and I did play with it in the store...but, it is more expensive. Given the cost of the camera (and that I got a speedlight, battery grip, UV filter, CPL, and bag)...I decided to reel it in, and went with the 18-105. I can get that one at a later time...or, perhaps the 70-300mm! I also want to get the 10-24mm, but that one is real hard to find and pricey to boot!! |
