The fleet was overhauled 20 years ago, and significant work was just done to refurbish the cars again (not as extensive as the 1990 work).The work in 1990 was a full overhaul, done relatively poorly in-house, compared to the cars the TA sent out for rebuild. The current work involves repair/replace of many passenger-facing items, such as floors, seats, and climate control. Some work was also done on the running gear. Most mechanical work is done at the Clifton shops, and breakdowns are rare; accidents are rarer still, the last one being caused by human error. |
