They were the pride of the whole system at the time. After all, was'nt 9306 flatbedded down (or up) 5th Ave during the 1963 Labor Day parade. And were'nt there signs that read "follow the blue arrow to worlds fair trains" all over the system with a R36WF superimposed??After the Fair closed, the signs were retained, and updated, to read "follow the blue arrow to flushing trains" I remember getting off a '36 at QP to go to Astoria in 1964 & got on a Triplex. Talk about a time warp!!! |
