In many cases the C/R is already looking at a monitor to close the doors. Why can't a T/O look at that same monitor relocated 300 feet down the tracks? It'd be nice if they'd designed the new cars to be truly up to date, with a sensor along the leading edge of the door to detect an obstruction, but NYCT remains stalwartly half a generation behind. In an emergency what advantage do a C/R and T/O have in controlling a crowd over a T/O alone when only one can use the PA at any given time? |
