Well, knowing today's society, it might have well been cheaper to build a new one, but the historical entities would have bitched about it. Look at Tappan-Zee and the Kosciuszko (BQE) bridges.The replacement estimate in 1988 was $700 million, which certainly would have escalated to more than the $1 billion repair cost by the time it was completed. |
