Lots of OTchat going on here, butObama has decided that he actually favours "preventive detention," ie, locking up innocent people because they might, at some point, commit a crime in the future. While I don't support the efforts of either President Obama or former President Bush in many relevant respects, I don't think that either of them favored detaining "innocent" people. The question has always been one of what legal process should determine whether there is sufficient evidence to convict or hold someone. |
